Remote Desktop App TeamViewer has added face keys and fingerprints for smartphones to prevent unauthorized access.
While TeamViewer is a well-known platform for IT professionals, it is considered one of the most dangerous applications in India.
This application has been a concern for smartphone users in India because it is used by scammers, pretending to be customer service executives, to read online banking passwords and upi applications by forcing victims to download them in the context of providing customer support.
New updates are expected to make it difficult for scammers to look into your mobile.
The Remote Control TeamViewer application can now be locked behind biometric authentication, which prevents unauthorized access even if cellular devices are left unlocked.
Unauthorized access can be blocked at the account level in TeamViewer with two-factor authentication (TFA) and the incoming connection can also be verified through the TFA push notification.
For those who are not aware, with the help of remote desktop applications such as TeamViewer or Anydesk, others can get access to whatever you see on your mobile screen.
While remote desktop applications are very helpful for IT professionals, there is a little awareness among smartphone users in this country about how this application really works.
With new updates, after one or several registered cellular devices, users will be asked to allow or reject each connection through the registered device.
Other embedded security features include ‘black screen’ for connections from cellular devices, keeping information accessed on a remote device located personally.
“All connections are protected with 256-bit AES encryption to end and other industrial class security features,” TeamViewer said in a statement to the media.
New updates include biometric protection with IOS FACEID / Touchid and Android fingerprint / fingerprint recognition and interactions in an enhanced session such as remote reboots and more intuitive black screen use.
For IT professionals using the application, there is a redesigned user interface to make it easier to fill the text field and use short-cut keyboards such as F5 and Ctrl + Alt along with full mouse support for iPad increasing productivity on tablets.
