All OEM smartphones work very hard to provide leading specifications that make competition more malignant on that day, however, software is the front one where you see the main variation with the brand.
Now, Germany has proposed that brands must offer security updates for seven years.
According to a complete report, this country also wants brands to provide cellphone parts “at reasonable prices” for the same time period.
Until now, the European Union (EU) thought to require five years of security updates for smartphones, but the German federal government recently submitted a request to create a period of ten years.
The EU proposal is expected to take effect in 2023 and aims to be an environmentally friendly step.
Reports by Heise added that the European digital industry association, representing telephone manufacturers, wanted this mandate to be reduced to a three-year security update and the renewal of function for two years.
While most smartphone brands offer regular software updates for 2 to three years, Apple finally launched an update for older devices as well when something important needs to be repaired.
Back in June, Apple launched software updates for longer iPhone and iPad with improvements for vulnerabilities that affect memory corruption and webkit.
This update is available for iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, and iPad Mini 3, as well as the iPod Touch 6th Gen, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus.
“This update provides important security updates and is recommended for all users,” Apple said in the release record for iOS updates 12.5.4.
Before that, only possible, Apple has launched an iOS update 12.5.3.
