This is for parliament to control partisan speakers: Supreme Court

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday said it was for parliament for the legislate and provided a period for adjudication to the disqualification petition against the legislators by the speaker, who had recently adopted a partisan approach to maintaining decisions about the application waiting to benefit the verdict dispensation.

The Supreme Court has from time to time expressing displeasure for uncontrolled delays in the speaker part to break the petition like that.
In January 2020, the SC bench headed by Justice R F Nariman had fixed a three-month timeline for Manipur’s speaker to decide the disqualification petition.
On Thursday, the Ranjit Mukherjee applicant told SC that speaker actions from various countries, and their failures to take on time in the face of recent political defection, arbitrary.
