Nagpur: Immediately, a doctor at a large corporate hospital will only prescribe medicines (technical names of drugs) and not a brand name to you, who have become common practices for years.
A special health official – ‘clinical pharmacist’ – there will be there to choose the appropriate drug and remove the medicines that are suitable for you, to monitor your health progress and to verify the side effects of drugs.
The clinical pharmacist post is not in Gazette in India, despite having a doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) course for more than 11 years.
On July 5, finally included as a notice of pharmaceutical practice regulations, 2015 came out.

Vinayak Ghayal said, “As the Indian Pharmacy Board (PCI) does not make any posts called clinical pharmacists in the pharmaceutical practice regulation (2015), this post has not been included in government policy until now.
We pressed this request for the past years.
Finally, the government has issued a notification of Gazettes on July 5 and made this post officially.
“Certainly Pharm D was introduced in the USA line in 2010, where holders were appointed in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, public health centers, pharmacies, drug stores etc.
Unlike other pharmaceutical graduates or graduates of posts, at least one year clinical rotation in hospitals and developing clinical sharpness.
This professionals study human anatomy, biology, chemical drugs, molecular pharmacology, toxicology, psychology, health assessment, patient care procedures and diagnosis, along with pharmacies.
They also use the ‘Dr’ prefix.
