Apple seems to finally find its place in the US smart speaker market, after three years.
The Cupertino giants entered the market dominated by Amazon and Google in 2018 with the original homepod.
Like what was done in support of the company was a decision to launch a SmartSpeaker budget, Mini Homepod, in October last year.
According to the Omdia market intelligence company, Homepod sales grew 180% during the second quarter of 2021 compared to the same quarter of 2020.
The sale of Apple homepod increased from under one million in Q2 2020 to almost 2.5 million in the same quarter of this year, according to Omdia smart speaker market tracker.
This tracker is reported to analyze sales of smart speakers in seven countries (US, France, Germany, England, China, Australia, and South Korea) for companies including Amazon, Google, Apple, Alibaba, and others.
Apple saw the growing numbers in three Digital Smart Speakers Apple increased with two digits every quarter in the US after the fourth quarter of 2020.
This growth also continued in 2021.
Omdia estimated that the homepod and homeEPOD Mini both exceeded all other smart speaker models in the US during the Secompnd quarter 2021.
Google Mini is ranked third overall, with around 777,000 shipments, followed by the 330,000 generation of delivery of the United States.
Thanks to this impressive figure, Apple’s market share of US smart speakers rose from 9.6% in the first round PF 2020 to 21% in the Seond 2021 section, an increase in shipping around 245%.
The report sees the original homepod termination also to contribute to a surge in growth, because Apple fans are believed to have rushed to buy the remaining shares.
Need a new model to maintain the same moment the Mini homepod has done a miracle to Apple’s position in the smart speaker market, that alone will not be enough to maintain this growth.
According to the report, Apple needs to release other speakers: portable speakers or speakers with display.
How overall market performance, smart speaker shipments slowed in the US during the second quarter of this year.
Year-year growth (YoY) reached 16%, while quarter shipping in the quarter (QOQ) fell 27%.
As per Omdia, most of the slowdown can be associated with the Amazon Alexa platform (including branded branded speakers and third parties), which sees a 31% QoQ decline for smart speaker shipments in the US.
In fact, Google’s smart speakers claimed place number one, beating Amazon during the quarter of around 800,000 shipping.
However, it’s not all havoc for Amazon.
Like although the slow quarter for Amazon, the first half of 2021 (1H21) is still included in the Alexa platform, which is estimated to have 42% of the shares, giving a few advantages to 37% and the market share of 21% Apple and Apple.
