Earlier this year, Hyundai acquired controlling shares in the Boston Dynamics robotics design company and now the Korean automotive giant has integrated its technology in one of the plants in South Korea.
Hyundai will use a “robot factory security service” based on the Boston Dynamics foot gutub robot, place, for the safety of industrial sites at the KIA manufacturing plant.
With an integrated thermal camera and 3D Lidar, robots can detect people around it, monitor the high temperature situation and potential fire hazards.
Spot robots can be controlled by remotely through a safe web page that gives Livestream from its movements around the factory, allowing workers to observe industrial areas remotely.
AI technology also allows robots to detect hazards and send alarms to managers through a secure webpage.
Based on these functions, modded-up robots provide real-time photo sharing from situations in place and log activity with the control center and support rapid response if an emergency occurs in control on control on the control of web pages.
Four-legged robots were reportedly small enough to navigate through narrow space and identify the blind area.
Hyundai has also added an autonomous feature that is increased to robots and is equipped with technology that is suitable for autonomous patrol services in the industrial location environment, including duty management and technology based vision-based learning.
Through pilot operations at the KIA plant in South Korea, Hyundai will use a robot to support security patrol late at night.
The company will also go through the proof of the robot concept and assess its effectiveness before expanding the patrol area and reviewing additional deployment to other industrial sites.
