New Delhi: The Ministry of Sports on Wednesday reacted sharply to the Snub tethered to the young Indian Tennis player Safe Dahiya, who had made a discount for the Australian Open Junior Championship qualification but was rejected by the committee because he had not been vaccinated with Covid19.
“Third world care this type given to India must stop,” replied the ministry’s source.
“Great mistake is to go to an open organizer of Australia,” added the source.
The ministry’s reaction came after the world No.
1 Novak Djokovic received medical liberation for Covid-19 vaccination from the Australian Open Authority, while Dahiya, 17, was rejected by the committee and the state government of Victoria.
India has opened a vaccination drive for teenagers this week.
“It’s not acceptable,” said the source.
As reported by TOI, Dahiya saw options for vaccinated in other countries, but logistical problems and funding proved to be a stumbling block.
World No.
78 Dahiya coach Jietesh Rawal, exclusively speaking to TOI on Tuesday, has regarding the alleged double standard of Australia’s open organizers and Victoria state governments.
“That (rules) should not be different.
This is why players like Nick Kyrgios have complained about Roger (Federer) and Rafa (Nadal) getting special treatment,” Rawal said.
“The state is not important.
The rule is if you don’t have two doses of vaccines, you can’t enter.
(So) Why did they allow Djokovic? Djokovic can have special care in court (such as the priority of the central court), but the entry point must be the same.
In terms of This, it is directly connected to the law of the government.
But it is safe to be a collateral damage, and Djokovic cannot, “he added.
