This year, only 50 foreign students have registered at the University of Mysore so far

MySuru: Travel and other restrictions because Covid-19 has influenced the acceptance of foreign students to the University of Mysore, with only 50 students who signed up for this year’s course.
On average, the university recognizes 700 foreign students to undergraduate, graduate and PhD courses every year from more than 50 countries.
Varsitas century century was looking at 400 foreign receipts this year.
Last year, recorded zero reception because of Covid-19.
UOM receives 2,100 online applications from candidates abroad and issued 800 temporary reception certificates – including 400 for UG and 300 for PG.
“Only 50 that appear for reception and we hope at least 350 students will arrive, thanks to most international flights,” said an official.
UOM rules mandate the physical presence of candidates when entering and the university says this regular course cannot be offered in online mode.
The academic year for UG courses began in June-July and August-September for PG courses.
Receipt has been postponed because Covid Curbs and Varsity officials will meet to discuss plans to include the first semester deposit after the registration process is complete.
The last day for reception UG is November 20.
The PG receipt process will likely end in January.
“Cancellation of flights to India from many countries is the reason for admission.
At present, more than 350 foreign students study in universities affiliated with the university.
Candidates from more than 50 countries choose to study in India; Karnataka has more foreign students In this country, “said Gr Janardhana, Director of International Center, UOM.
“Foreign students prefer computer science, economics, English, and management courses in our university,” added Vicechancellor G Hemantha Kumar.
Most students apply for chairs from Afghanistan and China.
“After the plague, all Chinese students returned home, and 79 Afghan students remained back due to political chaos at home.
This center has extended their visa and plans to provide scholarships to help them continue their studies,” said the source.
