Bhavnagar: Some people hide their original identity and rename as part of the conspiracy to lure the girls from other communities and the police will take strict action against the perpetrators involved, said Minister Gujarat Sanghavi Harsh said on Sunday.
He spoke during his visit to the city of Palitana Bhavnagar district, where the police were investigating the case of a married man with a girl from a different community.
The state minister Gujarat asked parents to care for their daughters so they did not fall prey to the action.
“Loving is not wrong.
But those who hide their identity, use duplicate documents to trap innocent girls will not be spared, not only in Palitana but anywhere in the state.
I warn everyone who hits such conspiracies tightly .
Action, “Sanghavi said.
Incidentally, the BJP government in the state, in 2021, gave an amendment to the Gujarat religious freedom law to provide a prison sentence of up to 10 years for the coverage of fraud or forced by marriage.
The state government said the amendment was trying to reduce “trends that arise in which women are captivated to marry religious conversion goals”.
The Gujarat High Court, in an interim order, prohibits its application for inter-religious marriages.
