New Delhi: Thousands of trees at construction sites and other projects must be transplanted throughout Delhi over the next few months.
The state government has ventured four expert agents for the assignment.
These institutions will help construction companies and others in ‘secure’ tree transplants that guarantee a high survival rate of trees.
Some projects that need such help are the development of Central Vista and Dwarka Expressway.
A forest official was disclosed, “We have received 40 proposals from construction companies for tree transplants, nine in the Central Division, 12 in the south and 19 in the West.
Many projects were approved for transplants a few months ago but the construction company waited for the empanelment of technical experts .
With the recently completed panel, the project developer can now choose the agency for the job.
Agency will comply with all technical specifications to carry out tree transplants in Delhi.
“For the Dwarka Expressway project, officials revealed that nearly 12,000 trees had been transplanted and the level of continuity their lives are around 84%.
They say about 1,000 more remaining to be moved.
The Ministry of Forestry has also given permission to the Board of Jal Delhi to carry out several transplants in the West Division.
Among other projects that must carry out tree transplants including the Development Project back Netaji Nagar, where the Delhi government recently gave permission to transplant 1,314 trees.
More than 1,800 trees are also expected to be transplanted for the Vista Central Project.
Meanwhile, several projects awaiting the opening of forest transplants including the return plan for the New Delhi train station.
“Approval for transplantation of around 1,000 trees on the site of rebuilding the New Delhi train station is in the process,” the official said.
“Likewise, for Delhi Urban Extension Road (UER) 2, there is a delayed application for a shift of around 2,000 trees.” The official said it was mandatory for each construction project to reveal at the beginning of the number of trees to be affected.
“This number, after being provided, is assessed and has been cleaned by the Government of Delhi, the transplantation of the affected tree can be made.
This figure can increase or decrease, depending on tree species and opportunities for their survival.
However, the invasive species is not transplanted at all.” Tree transplant policy was told last year.
It is said at least 80% of trees that are influenced by development or construction projects must be transplanted and as many as 80% of them must survive transplants.
In addition, planting the compensation of the 10 puppies for each tree will continue.
The official added, “the trees must be preserved correctly and nothing must be removed unnecessarily for development projects.
When preservation in place is not possible, scientific transplants from the trees affected, rather than their logging, must be New norm.
“This policy tells the right procedure to follow when shifting trees from the project site to another place for transplantation.
