Patna: Overall three children were killed after they were destroyed under a large stack of sand when the truck carried out it lost balance and fell on his side in Madhuban Village under the Punaura Police Station area around 3pm on Friday.
Sitamarhi Sadah Sdpo Ramakant Upadhayay said that the dead children had been identified when Dabsa Begum was around 14 years old, Saima Khatoon who was only six months old and one Abid Ansari was around seven years old.
He said that at least three other children played in a hounded place in the accident.
DSP said that children played on the roadside when trucks were overloaded with sand falling on them after losing balance.
“The vehicle is a min multi-axle truck that is completely overloaded with sand.
But it is not clear whether the sand is mined illegally or legally.
It goes to Riga,” he said.
DSP said the truck driver and co-driver escaped from the place after exiting the vehicle immediately after the accident.
“There are no receipts found in the truck but are needed to transport sand,” he said.
Upadhayay said that it seems that the overload truck tried following several other vehicles near the place.
“The road where the accident occurred narrowly.
It seems that the truck wheel goes under the shoulder of the road which causes it to lose balance and fall to the side because of being overloaded.
All the sand is brought under the children destroyed,” DSP said.
He said that heavy duty cranes were used to set up trucks and bodies subsequently extracted by removing sand from the place.
Upadhayay said further investigation depends on the incident.
He said the children were injured in a hurry to a conscious hospital for care.
