Thane: With a focus on maximizing revenue and create alternative income sources, Thane Municipal Transport (TMT) has proposed to operate the CNG pumps at three depot in the city.
This proposal is one of many schemes planned by the administration for presenting expenditure RS 620-crore budget for fiscal 2022-23 on Tuesday night.
While the budget has refrained have new announcements, commuters have been spared from the increase in tariffs in an election year.
Budget also have an allocation to trigger the first fleet of 81 electric buses under wet lease in the coming financial year using central government grants to the Clean Air Program initiative.
The administration also aims to optimize the operation of its fleet of 362 buses and ticket sales double in the next fiscal.
The initiative to incorporate fuel vending machines as an alternative means of income may be the first by a local transportation agency in Mumbai and the suburbs, transportation officials said.
Preparations were justified adopting fuel vending initiative that claims to decline because covid revenue generation and increased competition from other transport modes.
“We have proposed to allocate space in three depots in Wagle Estate, Nilatkanth and Anand Nagar to establish pump CNG which is also accessible by private vehicle to refuel.
