Noida: Noida recorded the air quality index (AQI) of 446 while Ghaziabad recorded AQI 455 on Sunday.
Aqi in both cities was in the ‘severe’ category for the third day in a row since Diwali.
However, with Aqi 463, Haryana’s Jind became the city’s most pollution city on Sundays, did a little worse than Ghaziabad who had the top position on Saturday.
In the entire region of the National Capital (NCR), the air quality index remained in the ‘severe’ category with AQI Delhi at 428 AQI and AQI Gurgaon at 419.
The air in Greater Noida was relatively better with AQI in 365 in ‘very poor categories.
After a sudden surge on the day after Diwali, the AQI level gradually reduces NCR.
Aqi in Noida was reduced from 475 on November 5 461 on November 6 and further until 446 on November 7, also in Ghaziabad, Aqi was reduced from 470 to 466 and then to 455 for the past three days.
Meanwhile, Greater Noida recorded a maximum increase in air quality because AQI changed from 462 to 414 to 365 for the past three days.
Uttar Pradesh pollution control instructions (UPPCB) said that the air did not improve because the minimum temperature had declined in the last few days, which trapped pollutants closer to the ground.
