Pune: Pune rural police on Tuesday arrested three people from Ahmednagar District because they tried to steal cash from cash expenditure machines in Shirur on July 20.
The local crime branch team led by Senior Inspector Padmakar Ghanwat took the suspect Akash Gaikwad (27), Tanmay Salve (21) and Ashish Dukare (21) became custody, when they came to sell a stolen motorcycle.
The police have restored four stolen motorbikes from them.
Ghanwat said that in the early hours of July 20, the suspects had cut the machine’s cash expenditure of a private bank, using a gas cutter and tried to steal cash.
The suspects have also damaged the CCTV camera in the kiosk.
“But they can’t succeed in stealing cash,” he said.
The officer said that the police examined CCTV footage from neighboring companies and found that the gang involved in the theft efforts came from Ahmednagar Regency.
“We put a trap and took him to custody along with two motorbikes,” Ghanwat said.
He said that during the trio question acknowledged their involvement in theft efforts and also revealed that they had stolen this motorcycle from Aurangabad Regency.
“We have recovered two motorbikes again, which they steal from the Ahmednagar district,” Ghanwat said.
