Navi Mumbai: Three family members from Freedom Fighter ended their lives because of “financial problems” by consuming poisons at Vashi’s house on Saturday, the police said.
A record is said to be signed by three – Mohini Kamwani (87), his son Dilip (67) and Putri Kanta (63) who are physically challenged (63) – states that they end their lives on “injustice”.
Previously, Mohini had told the media that her husband, Naraindas Kamwani, had participated in the Indian Quit Movement with Gandhiji.
The Senior Inspector of the Vashi Police Station, Ramesh Chavan, said that Dilip had called the police control room at around 7:30 a.m.
on Saturday.
“He said that he, his mother and sister had consumed poisons due to financial problems, and experienced discomfort.” Chavan said that several police personnel rushed to their homes and took them to the NMMC Hospital, Vashi.
While his daughter died about an hour later, his widow and son died at the same night.
Police officers claimed that diliped, in his police statement given at the hospital, said that they had consumed chemistry, rat poison, and several pills “because they were depressed due to the financial crisis”.
Chavan said they found chemical poison bottles and pest killer rats in their flats.
“The four-page suicide record states that the Supreme Court, the High Court, the Central Government and the police are responsible for” because they spur them to take drastic steps because they “did not make them justice in their legal battles”, said Chavan.
This note also mentions a loan RS 3 lakh besides an agreement to sell their flat.
A high court advocate, Gangwal Vinod, who previously represented Kamwanis in the legal struggle for police harassment, said: “In 2014, I received pine shots through the court against four senior police officers Navi Mumbai for the illegal capture of Mohini and Dilip.” Surprisingly that they ended their lives.
Because they are a formidable fighters.
I have demanded an independent investigation.
“He said Mohini and his son was arrested in 2012 because it threatened to commute himself if fired was not submitted to certain relatives.” Kamwan had a monetary problem and violations with several relatives, but the police did not register the case, “said Gangwal.
