THANE: Authorities have detained three people in Maharashtra for supposedly black-marketing a important medication used in treating mucormycosis or’black illness’ disease, an official said on Sunday.
Acting to a tip-off, the police put a snare on Saturday and originally captured two persons that had come to market the medication from dark, assistant commissioner of police, Vartak branch, Pankaj Shirsat stated.
The 2 men, hailing out of Panvel in Arabian Navi Mumbai and also Vasai at Palghar district, have been detained close to the Kapurbawdi Naka at Thane and 14 shots of Liposomal Amphotericin-B values Rs 1,09,424 were retrieved by these, he explained.
Through questioning, the 2 men told the authorities they had procured the vials out of a guy from Boisar at Palghar.
The authorities later also detained the alleged offender, the officer stated.
A case has been filed against the accused under applicable terms, the authorities said, adding they have been remanded in police custody until June 23.
Mucormycosis is a fungal disease resulting in protracted morbidity and even mortality among Covid-19 patients.
