MUMBAI: A 26 year-old died after three houses collapsed in Lokhandi chawl area of Dahisar on Thursday evening.
According to BMC officials, the incident was reported at around 6.36pm and the victim was sent to Shatabdi Hospital where he was declared brought dead at around 7.15pm.
Sandhya Nandedkar, assistant municipal commissioner, said that the houses were located on a hilly area and owing to heavy rains came down crashing.
“Three persons were injured in the incident of which one has died.
We had already warned them about moving out of the location prior to the onset of monsoon but they refused.
The houses being on a hilly area were impacted due to the heavy rain.
We have now made alternate accommodation for the rest of the residents in a nearby municipal school,” she said.
