KABUL: Three people, including a journalist, have been killed in a shooting in the East Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan, the authorities confirm on Sunday.
“Journalists and Author Sayyed Marof Saadat together with their relatives traveled in the sedan along the road in the police district 5 Jalalabad City on Saturday night when gunmen opened fire on them,” Xinhua’s security source said anonymously.
The son of Saadat and the driver of the vehicle was injured in the shooting, the source said.
An independent Afghan media group, the Afghan journalist Safety Committee (AJSC) has condemned the murder.
There are no groups that claim responsibility for shooting so far.
The authorities are investigating this case, according to the source.
Since the Taliban took over in mid-August, at least 10 people had been killed and many others were injured when Jalalabad, about 120 km in East Kabul Afghanistan, was hit by a series of bomb attacks reportedly claimed by militants affiliated with the Islamic state that opposed the Taliban government.
