Three owned from Valsad to sell stolen cars

Letter: The local crime branch of Valsad police arrested three people because selling stolen vehicles to customers who were easily fooled by forging registration papers.
The police arrested three from steam on Thursday and also confiscated 15 vehicles worth RS 1.14 Crore.
Police arrested Mohammad Jabir Abdul Gaffar Shaikh (46), Mahmood Ramzan Khan (42) and Mohammad Salman Shakil (26) for alleged their involvement in the racket.
They were involved in three cases – each in Vapi, Puna and Valsad.
The police recovered 13 trucks and two cars from the defendant.
The defendant used to steal vehicles from various states and get it in the Daman Union region using a vehicle registration certificate that has been deleted.
The police told that the defendant first secured the paper and the number of chassis from a burning vehicle.
Then they use to damage the number of chassis from stolen vehicles and obtain ‘no objection certificates’ from other regional transportation offices of other countries using the vehicle registration paper deleted.
Then, the vehicle was brought to the Union of Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli for registration.
Shaikh and Shakil were involved in stealing vehicles while Khan helped them enroll them in Daman and sell it too.
They sell vehicles to buyers who claim it becomes used vehicles with original documents.
“We suspect several other people may also be involved in the racket.
The buyer of this vehicle never knows that they buy a stolen vehicle,” said J N Goswami, Police Inspector, LCB, Valsad.
