Thiruvananthapuram: City police on Saturday arrested three gang members involved in peddling marijuana and also captured coarse explosives from their ownership.
Police identified the defendant as Mithun, 27, from thekkada near Vembayam, Sagar, 20, from Kanjirampara near Vattiyorkavu and Nidhin, 20, from Karakulam.
Their arrest was recorded at the Vlatiyorkavu police station.
The police said the three men were arrested based on a tip received by the Commissioner of the Sheen Tharayil City Narcotics Cell Assistant.
Based on this information, members of the city’s special action group for organized crime teams have monitored trio activities for the past few days.
They were nabbed from Sagar’s residence in Kanjirampara after the attack.
Together with some marijuana stored in a small package ready for sale, the police also found several raw bombs from home.
Mithun, accused of being a defendant in the case registered by Vattappara police because it has explosives.
He was also accused of several cases of attacks registered at the same station.
Sagar was also the defendant in two cases registered by Vattuyoorkavu police in the past.
This includes efforts to kill cases and other cases related to allegedly establishing automatic rickshaws burning.
The three are produced in front of the court and are returned in court detention.
