Chennai: Three stone idols were excavated by workers in the couple’s couple complex in Kodur Village near Ponner on Thursday.
The land belonged to Gopi, a farmer who recently decided to build a house in the plot.
On Thursday, the idol was excavated when construction workers dug the ground.
After digging nearly six feet, workers hit stones.
They decided to dig further, want to know what’s inside.
Within minutes, they found three idols in the hole.
Idols about two feet high and God Sridevi, Boodevi and Lord Perumal.
The villagers to find out about idols gathered around them and do Pooja.
The landowner believes it is a sign of luck.
As a spread of news, archeological officials and the income department were told about the discovery.
Officials Department of income took idol and shifted to a safe location.
This will be the target of the test to ensure the age of the idol excat.
An official said the idol could be from the 14th century.
The ASI officer was also told about the stone idol.
Sources in ASI say there may be a temple in the area and idols may have been buried during that period.
An investigation to find out whether the idol was stolen from somewhere and buried here, officials said.
The villagers appealed to officials to submit idols to them after testing was complete.
