Kolkata: The Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HidCo) has involves a design consultant to prepare a 27-meter high interior level design and a diameter of 45 meters of solar dome which is established adjacent to Eco Park in New Park.
The solar dome is a geodetic dome cut with an active solar panel on the outside side for sustainable solar power plants throughout the day.
In the dome there will be a large room with at least three floors of exhibition space connected with spiral ramps for visitors to ride and central elevator to go down to the ground floor.
The upper floor level will offer a spectacular watch gallery.
Officials said how several exhibitions, theater performances on global warming and the display of hi-tech interactive furnaces from international standards can be held in a solar dome on three different floors.
About 2,000 solar panels have been set on the outer side of the solar dome which will produce 180 kWh solar power when it is completely completed.
The resulting solar power will be used for internal lighting and illuminating the street lights around it, officials said.
Although this project is expected to be completed and ready at the end of this year, the authorities plan to open at least the first floor of the Globe Solar Dome in the next few months.
Working on a project that began in February 2017, was being executed jointly by Bengal Bengal State Distribution Limited (WBSEDCL) and Hidco.
There will also be various participatory attractions for visitors.
