Three students are afraid of sinking in Ganga

Haridwar: Three students from Mumbai in the early 20s were drowned in Ganga after they were trapped in a strong current while swimming in Rishikesh on Wednesday.
Melroy Dantes, Apoorva Kelkar and Madhushree Khursange – All in their 20s – are part of the group of five members who came to Rishikesh on vacation at 1.
Melroy, Apoorva and Madhushree were students from a college in Kandivli (e).
Preliminary information said they were residents of Borivli (e).
A police officer who investigated the incident said two other students who survived were too shaken to provide the right details.
On Wednesday afternoon, friends who stayed at Riverside Hotel in Tapovan, went to explore the stretch of Ganga near the property.
While three of them decided to swim, Nisha Goswami and Karan Mishra remained at the bank.
“It happened so fast.
The apoorva has advanced deep into the water and slips.
The other two swam towards him and in a few minutes they were all caught in strong currents and disappeared.
We can’t do anything because no one else is in that place, “Karan is believed to have told the police.
Search operations to find trio were called at night because the river swelled due to heavy rain.
Station House Officer (SHO) in Muni Ki Reti, Kamal Mohan Singh Bhandari, told TII, that the search operation would continue on Thursday.
“Parents have been told, they will come to Rishikesh,” he said.
