Thiruvananthapuram: Efforts to build three low vehicle underpasses (Lvup) along the elevated highway that will appear in Kazhakkoottam.
Lvup, when realized, will facilitate risk-free highway crossings.
According to sources, the proposed Lvup will be built in attinquzhy, Technopark Phase III and Mukkola along the stretch of bypass NH.
The three points will be under the road south of the highway elevated.
The source said the government had had a proposal caused by green for two lvups in attinquzhy and mukkengkalkal.
The government has requested an official of the National Highway Authority (NHAI) here to submit a revised proposal to include one more underpass in the proposed project in Technopark Phase III.
As planned, each underpass will be 5.5 meters high.
A year ago the state government had suggested NHAI officials consider the possibility of underpass connecting the service road on both sides of the elevated highway.
This request was made to consider concerns submitted by Technopark management and employees who said without it they must cover too much distance to enter the Technopark campus here on the east side of the highway.
Technicians who get off at the Kazhakkoottam train station on the west side of the highway will be the most affected.
The source close to the increase in the elevated highway also said they expected to equip the highways and underpass simultaneously if the government approved the revised proposal to be delivered next week.
If everything goes according to plan, the works will be carried out by the same company that builds the highway elevated as an additional project.
Officials concerned believe that underpasses will not only facilitate the intersection of the highway, it will also reduce the risk of accidents.
Because vehicles traveling along the elevated highway will move at high speed, the possibility of an accident will be higher if the vehicle from the road service tries to cross the highway.
KAZHAKKOOTTAM Increases is the main infrastructure project that is expected to solve the tribulation of traffic in the Kazhakkoottam IT corridor.
The highway which was elevated by four lines was 2.7 km from the CSI mission hospital in the north and ended near Junction Phase III Technopark in the south.
According to RDS construction, companies that carry out construction, more than 65% of work have been completed so far.
