Chandrapur: A man was killed and a woman was injured after a tiger attack near the Open Papur mine on Thursday night.
The official source said that Anil Munjanwar and Wachalbai Thorat were collecting firewood when the tigers charge them.
Munjanwar suffered a serious injury in his neck while Thorat had a small one on his leg.
Munjanwar managed to drive the tiger by taking some friction with his ax and walking away.
Some people rushed them to Chandrapur GMch.
But Munjanwar died soon after.
Tigers are seen in the area since the last few months and have claimed several victims at the beginning of the year.
The death toll in a predatory attack has now touched 35 in Chandrapur this year, 30 of them victims of the tiger attack.
