Chandrapur: Adult tiger that fell on an agriculture well saved after a three and a half-hour rescue operation in Alpar Village, Warora forest range, on Monday morning.
The rescue team dropped a wooden bed to the well to give a footing to the tiger and the cat jumped out and escaped into the forest after jumping into the wall of the wall of the parapet well.
The problem was revealed after a farmer, Sarpate found a tiger on his agriculture well early in the morning.
Forest officials were informed and the Waror Range Forest Officer (RFO) Rathod rushed to the place with his team.
Volunteers from the Eco-Pro NGO and Rapid Response Unit (RRU) Team Chandrapur Forest Division were called.
Rathod said it was not clear how tigers fell into the well.
“We suspect it might have chased prey through the fields and fell into the well when jumping for prey, sometimes at night,” he added.
Rathod said the well water was only six feet under the edge and the tiger was found out but swim in the water.
At the time of the forester reached the place, the large crowd of villagers had gathered to watch large cats trapped in the well.
“Control the tenderness crowd is the most difficult part.
We must bring the help of the Shegaon police to disperse the crowd before starting the rescue operation,” Rathod told Toi.
Rescue workers bind a wooden bed with a rope, lowering it near the tiger and moved from the well, waiting for his reaction.
“Tigers immediately climbed onto the bed and relaxed a little after hours of swimming.
It was sitting in bed for a while, jumping in Parapet and escaping,” Rathod said.
RFO added that the forest experience serving in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve was very useful during operation.
Rescue teams led by RFO Rathod include Foresters Amol Neware, Kishor Deulkar, Nibuddhe, Ramteke, SD Watekar and Ishwar Ladke, members of the RRU team and volunteer eco-pro.
