MOTIHARI: A Royal Bengal tiger has reverted 130km west from Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) from West Champaran into Pakridayal region in East Champaran, creating fear among the villagers who’ve sighted the large cat roaming from the areas because Tuesday.
Villagers of all Sugauli, Ramgarhwa, Chiraiya along with Pakaridayal blocks living close to the left embankment of Burhi Gandak lake are now spending sleepless nights.
They’ve stopped visiting their subjects.
Those dwelling in huts have obtained refuge in pucca structures of their co-villagers from fear.
A 40-member group of officials and specialists of the forest division from Patna, Muzaffarpur, Motihari and VTR with neighborhood authorities armed with tranquillizer firearms and cage van is now running extensive investigations from the Burhi Gandak riverine regions near Pakaridayal into the tiger, that strayed in the VTR four-five weeks past.
VTR field manager Hem Kant Roy stated it may have strayed from Manguraha array of the VTR after civic struggle between the new and old tigers.
“Pros and officials of the forest section want to follow the tiger after its pug marks,” he explained.
East Champaran divisional forest officer (DFO) Prabhakar Jha said the tiger’s full grown and fit, but combating appetite.
“We’re still keeping a close eye on its own motion,” he explained, adding a tiger journeys 30-40km each day/night.
According to sourcesthe tiger was initially seen by the villagers on Tuesday from the mango orchard of all Dumarbana village nearby Pakaridayal marketplace, that is 15km from Motihari.
