Mussorie / nainital: Tourist leg cracks down as much as half in Mussoorie and Nainital this weekend as an examination associated with strict Covid begins.
While hotel bookings were made mandatory last week to enter the two hilly stations, the police team also began a comprehensive inspection of Covid – negative test reports.
Compared to the last few weekend when hotels in Mussoorie have recorded 100% housing, reservations of nosed to 40% to 50% this weekend.
In Nainital, many top hotels are almost 20% occupancy on Sundays.
Sandeep Sahni, President of the Uttarakhand Hotel Association, told Tii Tourist Footfall has dropped dramatically at the hill station.
“A number of factors have contributed to tourist rushes Sahni said.
The traveler people say that often tourists arrive without previous reservations but now they are rejected.
“On Friday and Saturday, a number of tourists were rejected by the police because they did not carry a hotel booking slip,” said a hotel in Mussoorie, added that hotel reservations should not be mandatory for visitors.
“Not everyone wants to order online.
In fact, half of the tourists who came here booked the hotel only after their arrival.
These drivers have ruined the business,” said Ved, Secretary of the Nainital Hotels and Restaurants Association.
Travelers now demand certain relaxation in Covid-19 guidelines for the coming weeks to be released on July 20.
“Tourists who are fully vaccinated must be allowed to enter without a negative Covid report while the store must be opened for a longer duration.
At the same time, administration and stakeholders must promote covid behavior that is appropriate by the visitor,” Sahni said.
Those associated with the tourism industry said that with the arrival of monsoons, tourism opportunities took in the next few weeks was slim.
