Gondar, Ethiopia: Tigrayan’s troops said that they had Ethiopian government forces on the way around the regional capital Mekelle on Tuesday after controlling the city in reversal of sharp opposition.
People in Mekelle, where communication was cut on Monday, said the entry of Tigrayan fighters were greeted with cheers.
There was a similar scene on video recordings from the North Shire City, where residents said Eritrean forces whose government ally had withdrew and Tigrayan forces had entered.
“We are 100% controlling Mekelle,” Getachew subsided, spokesman for Freid Liberation People Tigray (TPLF), told Reuters on Tuesday.
There are several battles on the outskirts of the city, but now it’s finished, he said, adding that he could not confirm the report from Shire.
“Our troops are still in pursuing south, east, to continue until each square inch is cleaned from the enemy.” The government rebuilt himself in Mekelle, he said and people could walk again on the streets.

Military spokesman Ethiopia, Minister of Information Eritrean and AMHARA regional spokesman all said they could not comment.
Getamew said the ceasefire was “jokes” and hundreds were killed on Tuesday in fighting near the border with the Afar region.
Reuters cannot confirm the battle independently.

The United Nations previously said the government and its allies blocked food from the area controlled by TPLF.
On Tuesday, occupants said Eritrea’s forces could no longer be seen in Shire, a big city at the intersection of several main roads.
“There is no only Eritrean in the city,” said a citizen Shire told Reuters.
He sent a short video of a busy occupant to the vehicle, it sounded wild and waved the big red and tigray flag.
Other residents in Shire told Reuters “there was a massive movement of the Eritrean forces from Axum, Shire towards Sheraro.” Sharon is close to the Eritrean border.
Hunger and violation of the right to Ethiopia are awaiting the results of the election of national and regional parliaments held on June 21.
Voting is only held in three out of ten countries due to insecurity and logistical problems.
There was no voting held at TipLray where TPLF, ethnic-based political parties dominated Ethiopia’s national politics for almost three decades, had fought the central government since early November.

The battle has been interspersed by reports of brutal gang till and mass murder of civilians.
At least 12 aid workers have been killed.
At least 350,000 people face hunger and other 5 million need direct food assistance, the United Nations said – the worst global food crisis in a decade.
Last week, Ethiopian military airstrikes on a crowded market killed at least 64 people and injured 180 others.
Doctors say women and children are between those who die and injured and that Ethiopian forces prevent ambulances from reaching the scene for more than one day.
The military said all victims were combatants.
