Nagpur: Following rumors about seeing Tigress with three children in the Kampee Cantonment area, the Forestry Department has installed three camera traps to verify animal identity.
“Section of online and local media on Monday reported that a Tigress with three children was seen in the challenger area after that we had sent a team to the place to verify.
Tiger images with children used in the news are the old image of Dudhwa Tiger reserves on Uttar Pradesh, “said Bharat Singh Hada, Deputy Forest Conservator (DYCF), Nagpur.
ACF Surendra Kale, who led the forest team to the place, said, “We talked to Leal Ahmed Shaikh Babar (61), a pump house keeper who claimed to have seen a tiger with three children at 8 am on Monday.” Kale said the pump house was on the banks of the Kanhan river.
Babar in his written statement said when he was on the tank, he saw Tigress 400-500 meters holding one child in his jaw and two more followed him.
Then, Tigress disappeared after 3-4 wild dogs chased after him, claiming Babar.
“We scan all areas where Babar sees Tigress, but no Pugmarks we expect to be a river area.
However, we have installed three cameras near the area,” Kale said.
ACF said the team also spoke with women’s livestock owners in the same area.
The woman claimed to have seen a large animal with eyes glowing around 18:30 on Sunday, but she wasn’t sure it was a tiger or leopard.
