Timeline: takeover of the Afghan Taliban

Paris: Here are the main developments since the Taliban seized Kabul, took power in Afghanistan after two decades of war.
On August 15, Taliban fighters appeared on the edge of Kabul after a flash attack was launched in May when US and NATO troops began to withdraw.
In room 10 days, they seized cities by city throughout the country with little or no resistance.

Since then there is more than resistance with some former government forces gather in Panjshir Valley, North Kabul.
The National Resistance Front is prepared for “long-term conflict” but also still trying to negotiate with the Taliban about the inclusive government, spokesman for Movement Ali Maisam Nazary told AFP.

The next day, England, France and Spain were among the latest countries to end their evacuation from Kabul.
More than 100,000 people have been flown out of the country since August 14, according to the US government.
