Tirupati: Lord Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala has received donations in 157 currencies throughout the world.
Pakistan Rupee is also the presence in the Hundi collection of Tirumala Temple, the richest temple in the world.
A donation document received in foreign currencies from 2000 to 2020, the copy is available with TOI, indicating that worshipers from 157 countries have visited Tirumala Temple and deposited their respective currencies in Hundi.
Each worshiper visited the temple fulfilled his oath after Darshan from Lord Balaji by donating generously to Hundi.
Apart from foreign currencies, donations include checks, draft requests, property documents, gold, silver, platinum and diamonds.
Analysis of foreign currency records showed that Malaysian Ringgit contributed 46%, while 34,659 US dollars formed 16%.
While TTD has exchanged currencies in good condition, it has a large stack of 2.44 lakh dirty foreign records.
After a decade, the temple management managed to exchange dirty foreign tones earlier this year.
Paratakamani staff, who separate and count records and coins every day, are also trained in dealing with foreign currencies and coins.
Because the record was dirty, they were stored in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) treasury.
Finally, they were exchanged in February for Rs 1.25 Crore.
According to TTD officials, Pakistan Rupees are donated regularly.
However, they did not divulge information about how many Pakistan Rupees were donated in the last decade.
Donations decreased the last YR because Covid, the temple closure of currency donations to Tirumala Hundi rose sharply during 2019-2020.
Data Hundi-Parakamani TTD shows that Hundi has received 4.73 lakh Currency notes worth Rs 27.49 Crore between April 2019 and March 2020.
However, contributions in foreign currencies declined during the financial year 2020-2021 due to covid restrictions and closure -19 Temple as part of Covid-19 control steps.
Between April 2020 and March 2021, Hundi received 30,300 foreign currency records worth 1.92 crore and April 2021 just before the Covid-19 wave both took over the country, Hundi received 4,779 foreign currencies worth Rs 37.22.809.
This temple is expected to receive a collection of Hundi Crore RS 1131 during the current financial year.
