Coimbatore: Tirupur City Police Commissioner V Vanitha on Monday introduced the ‘Pink Brigade’ to prevent crime against women and patrolling near schools and colleges in the city.
Female police personnel will be attached to the ‘Pink Brigade’.
Vanitha has surrendered a scooter to the female police attached to the ‘Pink Brigade’.
He said the ‘Pink Brigade’ police would patrol near the school, college and public places to prevent crime against women and children.
“Exclusive cellphone number (94981 81209) has been given to the Brigade, which is associated with city police control rooms.
Complaints received for exclusive cellphone numbers of women and children will soon be forwarded to the Brigade patrol room,” Vanitha said.
