Nagpur: The Mayor of Dayashankar Tiwari who accused the insults of different people had kicked an anti-encroachment push in the storm.
Nagpur.
Sustainable anti-encroachment against roadside vendors see the destruction of a minimum of 15 shops of people who are physically challenged throughout the city.
Tiwari allegedly equalized the demolition of this encroachment as a punishment for their karma.
The statement pulled a sharp reaction from different people who used protests sitting outside the Mayor’s office starting at 1:00 p.m.
on Friday.
Protests last for about three hours.
The protesters also parked their pedicabs around the official Tiwari vehicle so he could not leave the office without completing their long-delayed requests that NMC had to set aside their kiosk during the anti-encroachment drive.
“On the one hand, the NMC provides various schemes for the ‘Divyang’ category and on the other hand, Nagpur citizens have insulted us,” Vidarbha Vidang Sangarsh Samiti President Giridhar Bhajbhuje and Vice President Sukhdev Dudhalkar when handling the media.
They claimed that when Samiti members looked for the mayor’s intervention over the anti-encroachment drive, said Tiwari, “Aap Logon Ko Apne Karmon Ki Saza Mi Mi Rahi Hai (you get a punishment for your karma).” Samiti has demanded that NMC build a kiosk for them along the lines made for masons throughout the city.
The Commissioner of the Mayor and City only guaranteed false and did nothing to overcome our worries, they accused.
“The mayor has assured us that no roadside shops that are physically challenged will be removed by the NMC anti-encroachment squad.
Apart from the guarantee, the Civic body takes action against our shops,” said Dudhalkar.
As a sloganeering intensified and the protesters got a Gocah, NMC called the police.
Even the Nagpur police riot control team arrived there to prevent unwanted incidents.
After three hours of protest, the mayor appears and overrides protection from the NMC anti-encroachment drive.
Tiwari also claimed that he himself had stopped the NMC team from the demolition of several of their stores.
He denied the allegations that NMC did nothing for the divyang part and clarified that the condition of Rs 7.5 Crore had been made for them in the current financial year.
In addition, NMC has provided financial assistance to students to merit and also sponsor them for Paralympics.
For their demands to give them the Cobbler kiosk shops, the mayor clarified that it was the state government scheme.
He further advised them to meet with the Nitin District Guardian minister.
