Chennai: Actor and former BOSG Boss (Tamil) Yashika Contestant Aannand suffered a severe injury and his friend died when their SUV traveled with a fence and fell into the roadside hole near the Silolerikadu on Saturday night (ECR) on Saturday night.
The police identified the deceased as Vallicatti Bhavani, 28, Hyderabad, a software engineer who worked in England.
SUV (TN01 BK 8632), with Yashika Aannand on the wheel, came to Chennai from Mamallapuram.
Bhavani is in the front passenger seat and two men, their friends, are behind.
Around 11:50 a night, when they approached Soolerikadu on the east coast road, Yashika allegedly lost control of the vehicle that penetrated the iron fence on the side of the road and plunged into the hole.
Some people who passed including riders rushed to the place and sent four to the nearest hospital.
Bhavani was killed in place and was declared dead in the hospital, police said.
After the initial maintenance provided, the others shifted to a private hospital in Greams Road where they were undergoing treatment.
While Yashika suffered an injury to the neck and a hip fracture, the two men fled with a minor injury.
Bhavani’s body, who suffered a severe head injury, was sent to Postmortem to the Chengalpet Government Hospital.
Police Mamallapuram enrolled the case and was investigating.
After the initial question, the police said that Bhavani came to the city from England four days ago.
He visited his friends on Saturday and four including Yashika Aannand decided to visit Mamallapuram to see statues and monuments and also play on the beach.
They came to the coastal city around 6am.
Because Bhavani had to take a flight back to England on Sunday, they decided to return the night itself with Chennai, when the accident took place.
The back of the vehicle was completely damaged.
Mamallapuram police registered a case of driving rash and caused death from negligence.
The police said the examination had confirmed that the actor was not drunk at the time but could lose control when speeding.
Probes are further active in this case.
