Chennai: Advertisements of the Religious and Ambi Hindu Department (HR & CE) ads that invite applications for teaching and non-teaching staff for Arulmigu Artswarar Arts and Science College in Colathur have triggered controversies as said “only Hindus can register”.
The teacher association said it denied the opportunity for the basis of religion against the constitution.
The HR & CE department began four new colleges, including the Kabeleeswarar College in Colathur, from 2021-22.
In an advertisement issued on October 13, the department said the interview was running for the position of assistant professor to teach BCAC, BBA, BSC, BCA, Tamil, British Computer Science, Mathematical Course and Physical Director and Pustak Pustak on October 18 at the campus campus in Colathur 10 a.m.
It also announced a walking interview for 11 non-teaching staff including office assistants, junior assistants, guards and sweepers in the afternoon.
The ad said to post teaching and non-teaching only Hindus who can register.

Maharaja, a former special government applicant, HR & CE, said the advertisement was wrong because of Part 10 of the HR & CE law, which said all staff had to practice Hinduism, only apply to the appointment of temple staff.
K Pandiyan, former President of the University teacher association, said that even though the HR & CE department was running 36 schools, five art art and polytechnic science and college, this was the first application sought from Hindus.
“The department run by the state government cannot discriminate against religious reasons and make candidates from other religions not meet the requirements,” he said.
He also quoted an example of MSS Wakf Board College in Madurai which has several non-Muslim faculty members.
T Veeramani, President of the Tamil Nadu government teacher association, said the condition that only Hindus that can be applied is not acceptable.
“The government can run institutions only in accordance with the constitution,” he said.
Despite several attempts by TOI, HR & Minister CE P K Sekar Babu, Commissioner J Kumaraguraran is not available for comments.
