Chennai: New cases in Tamil Nadu fall on Friday, when the country added 1,669 new cases compared to 1,693 on Thursday and 1,658 on Wednesday.
However, 18 of the 38 districts in the state reported an increase in new cases.
On Friday, Coimbatore reported 205 new cases, compared to 206 on Thursday and maintained a slot for the district with the highest number of cases.
The western district is the only district in the state to report more than 200 cases.
New cases in Chennai fell to 196 on Friday.
Three other districts – Erode (132), Chengalpet (115) and Thanjavur (110) – reported new cases in three digits.
The sharpest increase in cases was reported from Namakkal, which reported 72 new cases on Friday.
On Thursday, the district has 56 new cases.
Cases in Karur rose to 23 out of 14 for the same time period.
A 24 hour increase in 15 other marginal districts between one and four cases respectively.
The steep reduction was reported from Chengalpet, where the case fell from 135 on Thursday.
Fourteen districts reported fewer than 20 cases each.
Among them the PERAMBAL (8), Tenkasi (7) and Ramanathapuram (4) report cases in one digit.
17 deaths took the cumulative toll road from March 2020 to 35.288.
While Chennai reported three deaths, Coimbatore and Tiruppur reported each of them.
Ten districts reported one of their respective deaths, and 25 others reported zero death.
In the end, after the country was dismissed 1,565 people from the registry there were 16,843 patients still in care.
Nearly 45% of patients were scattered in Coimbatore (2,218), Chennai (1,895), Erode (1,350), Chengalpet (1,243) and thejavur (1,028).
