Chennai: Tamil Nadu on Saturday added 1,575 new Covid-19 infections, pushing the overall Caseload to 26,21,086, while the number of deaths touched 35,000 with 20 people who surrendered to the virus.
Recovery exceeded the number of new infections with 1,610 people out in the last 24 hours, collecting to 25,69,771, leaving 16,315 active infections, said a health department bulletin.
The number of infections in the state, which has carried out a downward trend for several weeks, began to increase since September 2 total 1.61,231 samples tested in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative number of specimens examined 4, 29.55.137 to date.
Coimbatore, with 244 cases, Chennai 167 and Erode 109, contributed most cases, while the rest were scattered in other districts, said the bulletin.
Six districts reported new cases under two digits, while no new death in 28.
Tenaskasi recorded a number of infections at least three.
Four of the deceased did not have co-morbidity, said the bulletin.
