Chennai: Tamil Nadu Assembly on Saturday issued a resolution urging the Workers Government to revoke the three controversial agricultural laws where farmers had protested for months in Delhi.
While Aidmk and BJP members walked out of the assembly before the resolution was given, PMK legislators, allies of NDA, Congress, VCK, MDMK, MMK and left support movement.
Moving Resolution, Chairperson of the Constitutional Court Minister Stalin said farmer agreements (empowerment and protection) on the guarantee of price and agricultural service law, 2000, farmers produce trade and trade (promotion and facilitation) of laws, and essential commodities (amendments )) ACT, 2020 – Enacted by the center arbitrarily without consulting the state government even though this sector is under the control of the country.
Stalin said the rights of state government were affected and the federal principles were compromised.
As a result, it amounts to the collapse of democratic institutions.
“Because these three actions are not suitable for the growth of the state agriculture and the welfare of farmers, this legislative assembly unanimously decides that the union government must revoke them,” said Chief Minister, reading from the resolution.
After the house leader, Durai Murugan insisted, the Speaker M Appavu announced that the resolution was passed by a round voice ‘because all members were present at home past the voice.
The aspiration of farmers is to get the appropriate price for their products, but none of the three laws talk about minimum support prices.
The law will result in a massive reduction in income for regulated markets, supporting traders than farmers, and will produce an increase in artificial prices, CM said.
Former Minister of Agriculture and Aiadmk Mla K P Anbalagan said the state government should not provide a hasty resolution.
Instead, it must hold a meeting of all parties, inviting representatives of farmers’ associations and discuss the pros and cons before taking problems with the center.
Intervention in the debate, opposition deputy leader O Panneerselvam said the minister’s chairman only registered losses and tried to find out whether CM or the Minister of Agriculture had approached the trade union government and received a reply.
“The delegation of the legislative parties can visit the Prime Minister and seek an explanation of the advantages and disadvantages,” Ops said, showing that it would help understand the intricacies of the problems and effects in the long term.
When Durai Murugan said the law was applyed by the center when Aiaadmk came to power in the country and tried to find out whether AIADMK supports or opposed the resolution, Panneerselvam said that the Supreme Court has remained a legal implementation and therefore there is a need to consult with legal experts at resolutions .
Durai Murugan denied that the problem was subjudice.
The minister’s chairman said the resolution moved by him had mentioned that it was revealed unanimously because he hoped that the opposition would support him.
For this, Panneerselvam said the state or central government would not be able to take any action because the court was confiscated about this problem and every decision must be taken based on the results of the court case.
“We have the responsibility to make exemplary decisions.
Let this subject be sent to a particular committee,” Ops said.
Stalin questioned AidMK’s reluctance to survive against agricultural laws when several state assemblies had passed resolutions against them.
Reacting to Panneerselvam, who wanted the minister to discuss with the Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture Union, Stalin said that he had talked about this problem with the prime minister during his last visit to Delhi, but there was no answer.
Stalin said he humbly repeated his request on the opposition to support the resolution.
When the AIDMK legislator walked out and continued their seats in a few minutes, Durai Murugan asked Appavu to achieve certain comments that he had made in Ops and his son and LS MP, O P Raveendranath because it would hurt used cm.
Ops thanked Durai Murugan.
The leader of the floor PMK G K Mani said the Central Act created panic among the farmers and who had to be resolved.
Then, Industrial Minister Thangam Thananarasu told reporters that AIADMK had made mistakes and betrayed the farmers.
Their walk-out revealed their double standards, he said.
