TN: Central Team to visit flooded areas on November 22 and 23

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Revenue and Minister of Disaster Management KKSR Ramachandran on Saturday said inter-ministerial teams from the center would rate for two days – starting November 22 – damage caused by floods.
The team of seven members led by the Secretary with the Ministry of Home UNION and financial advisors for the National Intelligence Grid (Natgrid) Rajiv Sharma will visit the state on Sunday afternoon.
“One group will visit Chennai, Chengalpet and Kancheepuram on Monday and other groups will visit Kanyakumari.
The next day, one group will assess damage in Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur and Thakhur, while the second group in Vellore and Ranipet,” said Minister .
Additional Secretary of K Phanindra Reddy and Revenue Secretary Kumar K Jayant will coordinate the group.
The district collector has been told to take groups to affected areas and facilitate members to meet farmers directly.
The farmer’s association, MPE members and MLAS have been told to take problems when groups visit the district.
“The inter-minister team will meet with the main minister on November 24,” Ramachandran said.
The state government and then seeks the main assistance of Rs 2,629.29 Crore, including RS 549.63 Crore as temporary assistance.
After a new weather system, several districts received heavy rainfall and districts such as Villupuram, Cuddalore, Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Kankumari have sent reports of damage.
Ramachandran said the country faced major damage to the river in a series and due to rain in neighboring countries.
The state government will relieve from the center again and put as much pressure as possible to get help for assistance and restoration, he added.
