If a mechanical engineering student or civil engineering student completes six courses in artificial intelligence or machine learning, he will get a minor degree with artificial intelligence or machine learning, he added.
The university also thought of implementing it for second year students after making changes needed in the regulation.
In accordance with the regulation of 2021 Anna University, a student needs to secure a minimum of 160 credits to get a Technology degree B or B.
The college welcomes the steps that say it will increase placement opportunities.
B Chidambarajan, Principal of SRM Vallimimai Engineering College, said the company expects interdisciplinary skills among students with the emergence of newer technologies such as IOT.

So, interdisciplinary courses are the needs of the clock and it is a welcome step by the university,” he said.
