Chennai: Tamil Nadu continues to look at the combination of Delta and Omicron variants from Covid-19 although almost 85% of patients in the group have the latter, said Minister of Health MA Subramanian on Tuesday.
“We don’t have a ballpark figure on the number of omicron cases,” he said.
The state no longer sent each sample for the original genome sequencing.
“Instead, the state laboratory samples of state public health were taken from the cluster.
Among almost 85% of people carry the Omicron variant,” he said.
Most patients carrying omicron variants have symptoms of mild infections and are in house isolation because they do not require oxygen therapy or invasive care.
“But management and treatment for both variants at a similar home or hospital,” said the Director of Public Health Dr.
TS Selvavinayagam.
“Everything that is tested positively must seek medical advice before they decide to remain in home isolation and avoid your own treatment,” he said.
