Chennai: Police T Nagar ordered three people, including a rowdy based in Madurai and a man who posed as a son-in-law of a trade union minister, because he cheated by people promising their work by train.
Con was revealed after a complaint by L Muth Punjar who said he had been kidnapped by the gang posing as a police officer, who threatened him against the police and looked for more money from him.
The court sent one of the defendants, Ganapathy, 42, to prison on Friday.
But, Muth Penjujar from Virugambakkam accused that Ganapati was assigned by Karthik Prasanna, who had previously deceived her from 1.25 crores.
The complainant said Prasanna told him that he was the son-in-law of Assam Minister Rajen Guhain and he could get his job.
Muthukumar pays up to 1.25 crores, but Prasana is suspected to delay the appointment.
Muthukumar then learned that Prasna had cheated others in the same way, and demanded the money back.
He was later kidnapped and threatened on August 24 and then released.
An officer said the case would be transferred to the central crime branch for further investigation.
