Chennai: Officials from the Directorate of Wative and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Monday launched a search in 43 places, related to former Minister of Health Minister C Vijayabaskar and his wife Ramya.
The case of disproportionate assets was registered against Vijayabaskar and his wife on Sunday.
Agency began searching in 43 locations in 6 districts – Chennai, Chengalpet, Kanchipuram, Coimbatore, Trichy and Pudukkottai.
The check period for calculating assets was taken as 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2021.
Former Minister and his wife had assets worth 6.41 crore at the beginning of the examination period.
Assets grow to Rs 57.77 Crore at the end of the inspection period.
A legitimate source of income during the period was Rs 58.64 Crore and the cost was Rs 34.51 Crore.
The total savings at the end of the inspection period is Rs 27.22 Crore.
Thus, the non-proportional assets obtained during this period are RS 27.22 Crore.
DVAC has also registered 14 educational institutions run by trust where the income obtained illegally allegedly pumped.
