Alampalayam (namakkal): Team of the Finance Directorate and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) searching for 69 places on Wednesday in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka allegedly related to former Electricity Minister Aiadmk P Thangamanani and his family members with disprorcousal assets of the case.
DVAC has registered a case on Tuesday against Thangamani, 60, his wife T Shanthi, 56, and Son T Dharanidharan, 32, on charges of collecting non-proportional assets worth 4.85 crores from May 23, 2016, until May 6, 2021.
In a statement released on Wednesday night, DVAC said it had confiscated 2.37 crore cash, 1kg gold jewelry, 40kg silver ornaments, documents associated with countless 2.16 crore cash, cellphones, bank locker locks, disks and computer documents in Search everyday.
The 18-member team started a search at the residence of Thangamani in Govindampalayam near Kumarapallayam in the Namakkal district of around 6.45 in the morning on Wednesday.
Simultaneously, the search starts in Chennai (14 places), Vellore, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Tirupur and Coimbatore District.
One place in Karnataka and two places in the AP are also sought.
In Chennai, the search was held at the Thangamani residency in Paniyur and MLA Hostel and his close friend’s house in the Safes Village in Koyambedu.
Thangamani is Kumarapalayam Mla.
Officials also searched the son-in-law house Thangamani Dinesh Kumar at Chennai and the House of Father Kumar Siva Subramanian.
AIADMK workers in Alampalayam raised slogans against the government.
The coordinator with Aiadmk Edappadi K Palaniswami said the search was due to political vendetta.
“DMK cannot digest our party growth.
We will destroy all obstacles,” he added.
DVAC has conducted a search and cases registered with former Minia Aiadmk S P Velumani, C Vijayabaskar, M R Vijayabaskar and K C C Veeramani after DMK formed the government.
Overcoming party cadres, Thangamani said DVAC officials only sent cellphones from their homes “they did not win cash, gold or silver ornaments as mentioned in the media statement,” he said, adding that the Electricity Minister DMK Senthil Balaji could be the key behind the raid .
