Chennai: When the first spell of heavy rain destroys the city, many houses will be flooded.
Even though the corporation and NGOs swung in action, people who lost most of their items have struggled to survive, and stay warm.
That’s why Chennai Volunteers (CV) launched his campaign, #alittetittebitofwarmath, on November 10, asking people to donate help and food.
And now, with the weathering of the city, other wet spells, the campaign has gained momentum.
“We started the campaign in response to the first flood.
The corporation does a good job with rescue steps and assistance, and also presents cooked food in all cities.
But we started getting a call to get help from our NGO partners.
The house has been flooded with and they requires basic ingredients such as bedsheet, emergency lights, umbrellas and, in some cases, clothes, “said Rinu Mecheri, founder of CV.
“Because the number of calls increases, we create a campaign on social media, #alitTitTBitOfMirth, invite monetary donations and in the form of goods.” And Chennaiit quickly responded.
Sudha Prasad, who lives in Santhome, has contributed sheets, umbrellas and saree.
“I have also spread news between friends, and will continue to contribute to the cause,” Sudha said.
CV has also helped NGO partners working with children in shelters, poor elders at home, children and young adults with special needs.
Virgil d’Sami, Director, Arunodhaya Center for street children and workers, said that many houses in North Chennai were flooded during the first flood.
“They need mats, sheets, towels, clothes, and cleanliness such as soap, toothpaste, sanitary sanitary napkins.
Etc.
Their ships have also been swept away, and many suffer from losing income because they cannot work, so they also need provisions.” #Alittittebitofwarmth has helped Arunodhaya support 100 families by providing food, mats, sheets, soap, towels, and tarpaulin sheets.
People who are interested can send messages directly to Chennai volunteers on one of their social media handles or send messages at 9840182299 for details about how they can contribute.
