TN gets RS 800 Crore from the center to manage Covid waves

This center has gave sanctions RS 800 Crore to Tamil Nadu as part of the Covid-19 assistance package to manage the second wave of infection and prevent the third wave, Minister of Health MA Subramanian said on Thursday.
Subramanian spoke to reporters after meeting the Minister of Health of the Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi.
The state has demanded 1,500 crore rs for management and prevention of epidemics, he said.
“They immediately gave Rs 800 Crore.
After we utilize this, the center will review our proposal and release more funds,” he said.
Appointing Tamil Nadu’s request for more vaccines, the minister said, “We need at least 12 vaccine doses, but we have so far only received 1.7 doses of crores.” Minister of Man Chief M K Stalin has written to PM who is looking for a special allocation of 1 dose of crore to correct imbalance in vaccine allocation to the state, he said.
“More people queue for shots and there is no waste of vaccines now,” he said.
The state also requests additional drug allotment to treat mukormycosis (black mushrooms).
“We have nearly 4,000 cases of fungal infections throughout the state.
We may need more drugs for the initial treatment of infection and to prevent death.
The drugs allocated to the country are also given to private hospitals when they need,” said Subramanian.
