Coimbatore: Coimbatore City Police arrested a 36-year-old woman because she grabbed the chain of a shop owner of a woman in Rathinapuri on Friday night.
The woman who was arrested was identified as S Thavamani aka Deivanathi Village Attukulam near Melur in the Madurai district.
Thavamani visited the souvenir shop in the seventh road extension in Rathinapuri with the pretext of buying gift items.
He chose a prize and asked the shop owner, C Selvarani, 57, to wrap it.
While Selvarani wrapped it up, Thavamani sprayed insecticides on his face and seized it 7.25 sovereign gold chains.
Selvarani raised an alarm, and the neighbors rushed to the place.
They chased the chain-snatcher and arrested him.
He was handed over to Rathinapuri police who arrested him and grabbed the grabbed chain.
