Chennai: A total of 5,972 government school students received engineering seats under a 7.5% special reservation in online engineering counseling this year.
In accordance with the government’s orders, 11,390 of 1.51 lakh seats provided below the new quota are for students from government schools.
The Tamil Nadu Technical Acceptance Committee (TNEA) released a details of allotment for a special reservation category on Saturday.
Fully, 6,442 students get allotment under various bookings.
“Of the 6,442 students who participated in the Special Reservation category, 1,615 students chose to engineering computer science and 1,112 students to choose electronic and communication techniques,” Gandhi Jayaprakash’s career consultant said.
Only 235 took BTECH AI courses and data science.
The first round of online counseling will begin with payment of fees on Monday.
