TN Govt Flags RS 516 Crore Scam in Base Loan

Chennai: The days after the DMK government said it was postponing the scheme of neglecting cooperative loan loans announced by the former AIDMK government, Minister of Cooperatives I Periyasamy on Wednesday told Tamil Nadu assembly that there was a loan deviation in RS 516 Crore, including loans worth RS 503 Crore provided to beneficiaries in the Salem and Namakkal District.
The government has found that loans are expanded to beneficiaries that are disproportionate with their land ownership and violate the norms set by the state level technical committee to distribute loans.
Participating in the debate in assembly, former Cooperation Minister Selur K Raju said the DMK government could begin legal action against those who were found guilty.
Former CM Edappadi K Palaniswami, during the last days of his tenure, has announced on February 5 that his government has ignored Rs 12,110 crore harvest loans.
The government has fixed January 31, 2021 as a cut-off date for neglect.
“Plant loan neglect certificates are issued up to 80% of loanees.
It has been found that extended loans are disproportionate with the ownership of the recipient farmers,” said Periyasamy, added that the violation was deliberately done.
Violations have fallen during the field investigation conducted by the Cooperative Department staff in the last 45 days.
He said that Rs 54.51 Lakh was credited to the savings bank account from 66 farmers in Erode in February, 2021, either after the date of cutting for loan neglect.
They also enjoy the benefits of neglect.
According to the income record provided by village administration officers, 2,698 members 12 people in Salem should have received loans with Rs 4.9 Crore songs, but their actual loans amounted to RS 21.7 Crore, all because it crashes into the land in the application and misstand the plants under cultivation.
In Madurai, 11 cooperative communities, including those located in Kochadai – which are part of the city – loans expanded to 81 farmers, violating norms.
The department also found that 1,338 farmers used loans with RS 9.5 Crore songs in seven districts after the cut-off date, but they were also included in the neglect list.
They include Salem (RS 3.7CR), Kanyakumari (Rs 42.4 Lakh), Tirunelveli (RS 3.3CR), Thanjavur (RS 1.1CR), Nilgiris (RS 28 Lakh), Erode (RS 54.5 Lakh) and Tirupur ( Rs 3.5 Lakh)).
Raju has denied allegations of irregularities in the distribution of loan schemes and neglect.
He said the AIADMK government issued a circular to the department – to all regional and district level officials – about loan neglecting guidelines on February 8.
Periyasamy asked how the previous government identified 16 Lakh recipients in the time after announcing the loan scheme.
He said there was a hurry to enter the names of the beneficiaries list.
He said the DMK government would ensure that all people who qualified to get loans in the future too.
He said there were people who were eligible to extend loans to RS 4 lakh only, but they really gave a loan to the song Rs 10 Crore.
He said the government also had the task of reclaiming the community from the grip of money lenders.
The Minister accused that the previous AIDMK regime had distributed 13.9 lakh jewelry loans to the same beneficiaries and the amount involved was Rs 5,998.4 Crore.
For example, Balakrishnapuram Society in Dindigul channeled 11 gold loans worth Rs 2.9 lakh to T Meena, 6 gold loans worth RS 3.5 Lakh to Shaktivel and five loans worth Rs 3.4 Lakh to S Selvavinayagam.
Sources say the beneficiaries divide loans into five respective sovereignty to enjoy the benefits of neglect of loans announced in the manifesto of the election of political parties.
